パスハで必ず用意される、この赤く染めた卵。どこの家でも必ず作ります。なぜ赤い卵なのでしょう・・・

卵は「生命」の象徴で、赤は「キリストの血」。つまり赤い卵そのものがキリストの復活を意味するのだとか。他にも「赤い卵」はありえない物であり、それと同様にキリストの復活はありえない、とされていた。にもかかわらずキリストが復活したことから、赤い卵を作る習慣が生まれた、という説もあります。

食べる時は1人1つずつ卵を持ち、「クリストス　アネスティ」（キリスト復活！）と言いながら2つの卵をぶつけます。殻が壊れた方の人はその卵を食べ、壊れなかった方は別の人と同じように卵をぶつけ合い、最後まで割れなかった人の勝ち！この時は子どもも大人もにぎやか。

卵を染めるものは食紅。普通に卵を茹でた後、食紅と酢にしばらく漬け込みます。現代では赤でない色や、模様が入った卵形のチョコレートなど種類も多くなっています。最近ではすでに色づけされた卵も売られてます。

作る時も食べる時も手が赤くなって楽しい！

Most households make  this Easter egg. Do you know why red?

There are some stories. One of them is that an egg means starting of new life, and red means blood of Christ. So red egg means the Resurrection. The other one is that although the resurrection could be impossible, the same as red egg, however, Christ was resurrected. Since then, people have made red eggs….

How to eat for 2 people… hold and hit easter eggs each other while saying “Christos Anesti!” If your egg breaks, you can eat. If it doesn’t, try again with another company. Have fun!
