日本のオリーブオイルと言えば小豆島。瀬戸内海に浮かぶこの島に今から100年以上も前に日本で初めてオリーブの苗木が植えられ、オリーブオイルが搾油できるようになったのだそうです。鹿児島や三重にも植えられましたが、小豆島のオリーブだけが育ちオリーブオイルの搾油が定着。現在も醤油、そうめんなどと共に小豆島の名物になっています。

「オリーブ公園」からは海が見えて、本当にギリシャに似ています。

More than 100 years ago, plants of olive trees were set out in Shodoshima island, Kagoshima and Mie prefecture in Japan. However, only trees at Shodoshima island, in the Seto Inland Sea, could produce oil. After that, olive oil of Shodoshima island has been famous in Japan.

The olive trees were from Spain and North America.

The same as Mykonos, Greece.
